First things first, this thing is doing my head in. Second things second; specs: w7 ultimate 64bit i7 930 hd6850 6gb ram this particular install of windows is less than two months old. So I downloaded some random cracked version of NFS:MW as I could no longer find one of my disks for the game I used to love as a younger kid. Long story short I played the game for about 5 solid hours of NO problems over about 2 days. Saved it, closed it, turned off pc, next day, started up pc, loaded game etc.

Now midway through the second day the game crashed to desktop. Nothing significant was happening, not a key cut scene, nor a story mode progression or anything. Just free roaming down the highway. 'Speed.exe has stopped working'. Tried to reopen game, screen goes black; same message.

Now this version of the game I had was a precracked, portable version so to speak (no installation necessary). So I deleted all of the extracted game, ran a CCleaner scan for the registry, then tried to reextract it. Same problem. After trying a few windows compatibility options (winXP SP3 / 640x480 reso / admin rights) and about every combination of said options I could think of, I determined the cracked version is probably just shit. So I downloaded a completely seperate cracked version, 'black edition'. (To make sure there is no way the two games can be linked in the registry or what have you).

Installed the game by mounting the ISO image, exactly the same problem. 'Speed.exe has stopped working'. So at this point I hit google.

Have tried the top 10 links for every single way I could phrase the question. This is by no means a rare problem mind you, but at the same time everyone else seems to have their issues magically fixed by the 'no-cd crack' exe which has floated around. I tried the.exe and to no surprise it didn't work. So what I've tried includes but is not limited to: -Trying multiple (about 5) different.exes -Pretty much every single compatibility option (and every combination) -Turning DEP (Data Execution Prevention) off for the.exe (And then back on) -Reinstalling about 5 times -Attempting the 1.3 patch which is floating around (turns out the latest version I downloaded seems to be 1.3 already though.) -Out of desperation running an AV (Anti Malware Bytes - updated seconds before scan) scan in safe mode on every single harddrive plugged into pc (including externals). -Moving the Local Files, (in case something in my profile wasn't agreeing with the game, was thinking resolution / AA etc) Now the thing which is minfucking me, is IT WORKED. FOR LIKE 6 HOURS.

I know it CAN work, I know it HAS worked, but why it won't work again even with reinstalls is literally making me mad. I have never wanted to ram into cop cars at 250kph more in my life. Note: I've put in everything I can think of that will be helpful. Please suggest things (ANYTHING: IM DESPERATE) and I will add them to the OP if they do (not) work. EDIT: I never did get this working.
